Bill is the owner of Counseling Associates of Door County and one of our therapists. He received his Master’s Degree in Counseling in 1978 and has since developed a broad array of clinical expertise. He is known for his work with mood and anxiety disorders, anger management, impulse control, and sexual disorders. Bill enjoys working with adolescents, children, and families as well as in the challenging field of marital counseling. He is a very interactive therapist, actively working to develop a strong rapport with clients.
Bill has been a therapist in Door County for over 30 years. He co-owned Counseling Associates from 1993 to 2004, and has been sole owner since then. He has seen the clinic grow from two therapists and a receptionist to the multi-faceted, full-service clinic it is today.
Bill’s approach to therapy springs from the belief that we all have many personal strengths and resources to apply to our problems, and that we don’t need to “reinvent the wheel”. We can learn to use these strengths to think and behave differently, and challenge ourselves to confront barriers to positive change, both within ourselves and in the world around us. And when we take care of ourselves, physically, emotionally and spiritually, we enhance our overall health and well-being.
Bill has lived in Door County for over 30 years. He has two kids, who are both adults and of whom he is very proud. When not at work. Bill enjoys running and biking, having an active competition with his kids at events such as the Bellin Run and the Crazy Legs Marathon in Madison. He enjoys the CADC volleyball team which plays at the YMCA Open League, “even though we’re not very good”. He also enjoys gardening in the summer and skiing in the winter. Bill believes that exercise, good nutrition and adequate rest are important self-care measures which help good mental health and just make life more fun.
